Southlake Health is strengthening its cardiac program through word-class recruitment.

Southlake Health was proud to welcome two extraordinary leaders to its Department of Cardiac Health – a regional program known for providing life-saving care to patients from York Region to Muskoka. These appointments reflect Southlake’s ongoing commitment to innovation, excellence, and its greatest strength: its people.
Christopher Overgaard, MD Appointed Chief, Department of Cardiac Health
Leading cardiologist, Dr. Christopher Overgaard has been named Southlake’s first Chief of the Department of Cardiac Health. With nearly two decades of experience, Dr. Overgaard brings expertise in complex coronary interventions and a proven track record of advancing cardiac innovation across Canada.
Since joining Southlake in 2019, Dr. Overgaard has played a central role in growing the cardiac program. He previously held leadership roles at University Health Network and is currently a faculty member at the University of Toronto, where he helps train the next generation of health leaders.
Moby Rehman, MD Joins as Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Dr. Moby Rehman, a globally trained cardiothoracic surgeon whose work spans the UK, Europe, and most recently, the Cleveland Clinic brings expertise in mitral valve repair, minimally invasive surgery, and robotic cardiac procedures to Southlake Health. Dr. Rehman has performed over 600 complex surgeries to date and his talent will support in growing the Department of Cardiac Health to bring leading edge care closer to home.
Certified by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Dr. Rehman will also serve as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto to train the next generation of surgical talent and foster the cardiac surgical skills of staff and medical staff at Southlake Health.
