Supporting families through high-risk pregnancies with Southlake’s new Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic

In November 2024, Southlake opened a new Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic, bringing specialized care for high-risk pregnancies to families in northern York Region and southern Simcoe County.
Every year, more than 2,600 babies are born at Southlake. The new clinic builds on this long-standing commitment to families by expanding access to maternal fetal medicine specialists and the latest diagnostic technologies. From early risk screening to detailed ultrasounds and personalized care plans, the clinic provides timely and comprehensive support for expectant mothers with complex pregnancies.
This dedicated space is staffed by an experienced interprofessional team and operates in partnership with leading maternal fetal medicine specialists. It offers families the reassurance of expert evaluation and continuous monitoring throughout pregnancy, delivered in a setting that feels accessible, familiar, and is close to home.
The clinic also connects seamlessly with Southlake’s broader maternal and newborn services, ensuring continuity of care from early pregnancy through delivery. For many families, this means less time spent travelling and more time focused on preparing for the arrival of their baby with the support of a trusted local care team.
By expanding specialized services within the community, Southlake is strengthening care for growing families and creating spaces that reflect the unique needs of patients at every stage of life.
