A new patient arrives in Southlake’s Emergency Department every 4.5 minutes. We have some of the fastest door-to-doctor assessment times in the province, but Southlake remains an epicentre of hallway healthcare in Ontario. Our communities need and deserve timely and high-quality emergency care when time is of the essence — they cannot afford to wait.
It was this urgent need for support that drove our 2024 The Future Is Now Southlake Gala, where, together with our generous community of donors, we raised an astounding $3.68M to support emergency care at Southlake. We extend our gratitude to Nicholas Fidei and Treasure Hill, our Gala Presenting Sponsor; our Gala Co-Chairs, Felicia Salomon and Lina Bigioni; the Gala Steering Committee; and all of our attendees for making it a night to remember with tremendous impact.
The Future Is Now fundraising initiative is helping us build capacity in our Emergency Department through new space, equipment, and technology, empowering our frontline healthcare heroes to continue delivering outstanding emergency care to our communities.
The momentum of our incredible Gala has inspired over $5.4M of support to date, enabling the first phase of our donor-funded Emergency Department Expansion to be completed, with the construction of our new patient waiting area. At the end of January, we welcomed our first patients to this new space, which features large windows that let in natural light and an expanded layout. Further phases of this renewal are scheduled for completion in the summer of 2025, providing additional space and enhancing patient flow and experience within this busy department.
