From lifesaving technology to everyday essentials, donor generosity is transforming care across Southlake Health.
Behind every moment of care at Southlake Health is something essential: the right equipment in the hands of the right experts.
Thanks to the generosity of our communities, donors continue to play a critical role in ensuring Southlake’s physicians, nurses, and clinical teams have access to the advanced tools and technology needed to deliver exceptional care, every day, for every patient.
While many are surprised to learn that government funding does not cover new or replacement equipment, the impact of philanthropic support is felt across every program at Southlake. From urgent diagnostics and minimally invasive surgeries to specialized mental health spaces and critical newborn care, donor investment ensures patients receive timely, high-quality care, close to home.
As Dr. Charmaine van Schaik, Chief of Staff, shared, “Access to state-of-the-art equipment drives health outcomes. Having the best equipment and the best talent translates to the best experiences for our community.”
Over the past year, donor support has brought vital equipment to life across Southlake, including:
Advanced patient warming and cooling systems (Blanketrol® III): supporting critically ill patients by precisely regulating body temperature — an essential component of recovery in intensive care.
Gynaecological surgical instrumentation: enabling precise, efficient procedures such as hysterectomies, helping patients experience better outcomes and faster recoveries.
Low-temperature sterilization units: Ensuring that delicate, heat-sensitive equipment can be safely reprocessed, reducing delays, improving turnaround times, and protecting both patients and staff.
Oncology exam tables: enhancing comfort and positioning for cancer patients during everyday care, while enabling clinicians to deliver precise, effective treatment.
Cardiac stress test monitoring systems: providing accurate, reliable data during cardiac assessments, helping care teams identify issues sooner and guide lifesaving interventions.
A transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) probe with UV TEE reprocessing technology: the TEE probe generates detailed images of the heart’s structure through ultra sound, while ancillary sterilization equipment supports faster, safer sterilization of this specialized cardiac tool, improving efficiency and reducing downtime.
Giraffe OmniBed Carestations: creating a controlled, protective environment for vulnerable newborns in Southlake’s NICU while enabling families to remain close and connected during critical moments.
Phototherapy systems for newborns: delivering high-intensity, targeted treatment for jaundice, helping prevent serious complications in infants during their first days of life.
These are just a few examples of how donor generosity is at work across Southlake, touching every stage of life, from newborns in the NICU to patients in urgent and critical care.
“Donors have always been an important part of Southlake’s story. All our work is possible because of the steadfast support of caring community supporters,” reflects Paul Woods, MD, President and CEO of Southlake Health.
The impact is clear: faster diagnoses, more advanced treatments, improved recovery times, and care that stays close to home when it matters most.
We are deeply grateful to every donor who continues to invest in Southlake’s highest priorities. Your generosity ensures that our teams can continue to deliver leading edge care and that our communities can count on it, today and in the future.
